Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 July 2026.
1-Quote ("1-Quote", "we", "us") operates a lead marketplace connecting Victorian homeowners with local outdoor trade contractors. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you. It is written to reflect what 1-Quote actually does, and is intended to comply with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
When you request a quote, we collect the details you provide on the form, which may include:
- Your name, email address and phone number;
- Your property address, suburb, state and postcode;
- Details about the job — the service required, approximate area, timeframe, budget range, property type and description;
- Any photos you choose to upload of the job site;
- Technical details such as your IP address and, where applicable, the page that referred you and any campaign parameters.
When you use our Contact form, we collect your name, email address, the topic and content of your message, and your IP address.
If you register as a contractor, we collect your business name and contact details, and records of the leads you access and any credit balance on your account.
We use a session cookie to keep the quote request and contact forms working securely (for example, protecting against cross-site request forgery). We do not currently use third-party advertising or analytics tracking cookies on the public website.
How we use your information
- To review your quote request and make it available to relevant contractors;
- To send you a confirmation when we receive your request, and to respond if you contact us;
- To operate contractor accounts and the marketplace, including which leads a contractor has purchased;
- To maintain the security and proper functioning of the website;
- To meet our legal obligations.
Who we share it with
Your job details and contact information are shared only with the contractor(s) who purchase access to your specific request — never published on the site, and never sold on beyond the platform. We also use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf in order to run 1-Quote, such as our web hosting and transactional email providers. We do not share your information with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.
We may disclose information if required to by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of 1-Quote, our users, or the public.
How long we keep it
We retain quote request and contact information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, resolve disputes, and meet our legal and accounting obligations, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect the personal information we hold, including transmitting data over encrypted connections and reviewing every contractor account before it can access any lead. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
You may ask us to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or ask a question about how it is handled, by using our Contact page. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
Children
1-Quote is intended for use by adults arranging trade work on their property, and is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as 1-Quote's practices change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
