Requesting a quote takes about two minutes, but it is fair to wonder what actually happens to your details once you hit submit. Here is the process, step by step.
1. You describe the job
You tell us the trade, the site, roughly what you are after and how contractors can reach you. Photos are optional but help contractors quote more accurately without needing a separate site visit just to scope the work.
2. A person reviews it
Every request is checked before it goes anywhere. This is what keeps the contractors on the other end genuine — nobody is buying a list of raw form submissions, they are buying requests that have already been looked at.
3. It is made available to contractors in your trade
Once approved, your request becomes visible to contractors who work in that trade and cover your area. We cap how many contractors can take up any single request — usually up to five — specifically so you get a handful of genuine quotes rather than an inbox full of them.
4. Contractors get in touch directly
A contractor who takes up your request contacts you directly using the details you provided. From there it is a normal conversation between you and them — 1-Quote is not involved in the quoting, negotiating or the job itself.
5. You decide
You are never obligated to accept any quote. Comparing a few genuine options and choosing on your own terms is the entire point.
Why it is free
Contractors pay for access to the requests they choose to pursue. That is what funds the review process and keeps the platform running — homeowners never pay anything at any point in this process.
